This course combines theory and practice to introduce students to an integrated, biopsychosocial approach to physical activity participation for persons with varied abilities. Students will be introduced to fundamental principles and theories in the field of adapted physical activity. Students will learn about a broad range of abilities and will be introduced to ways of providing physical activity opportunities for individuals with varied abilities. Students will be given opportunity for active, hands-on learning of different physical activities developed for specific populations through through in-class discussions, tutorials, assignments, and readings.
